Рroject title: Green Campus Initiative: Integrating Sustainability into Higher Education in Uzbekistan

Project structure: 7 work packages with responsibilities distributed among partners

The GreenCamUz project is implemented under the Erasmus+ CBHE program with the support of the European Union and aims to integrate sustainability principles into the higher education system of Uzbekistan. The project brings together European and Uzbek universities to develop Green Campus strategies, modernize curricula, and strengthen institutional capacity in environmental sustainability. By combining European expertise with local needs, GreenCamUz helps partner universities implement scalable and replicable Green Campus development models.

Key goals and outcomes:

Educational Objectives:

  • development and implementation of Green Campus Strategies for 6 universities;

  • design and integration of 12 sustainability-related courses into curricula;

  • professional training for 48 faculty members and 24 administrative staff;

  • Establishment of a network of 120 Green Campus Ambassadors

Practical results:

  • implementation of 6 sustainability pilot projects (one per Uzbek partner)

  • creation of a virtual knowledge-sharing platform with 1000+ users

  • development of partnerships with 12 local businesses/organizations;

  • сommunity engagement initiatives promoting sustainability beyond campuses

Expected Results:

  • modernized curricula with strong sustainability orientation

  • strengthened institutional capacity for green campus management

  • increased environmental awareness among students, staff, and communities

  • long-term cooperation between Uzbek and EU universities

Role of Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship

Partner.

Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship in collaboration with Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, co-leads Work Package 2 and dedicated to designing and implementing comprehensive green campus strategies with the following objectives:

  • Develop comprehensive and tailored green campus strategies for 6 HEIs of Uzbekistan
  • Create implementation roadmaps
  • Establish monitoring and evaluation framework
