Representatives of the Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship took part in a training programme dedicated to integrating sustainable development principles into the higher education system.

The event was held at Karabük University (Turkey) within the framework of the GreenCamUz project  “Green Campus Initiative: Integrating Sustainable Development Principles into Higher Education in Uzbekistan”, implemented with the financial support of the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme (KA2 strand). The training brought together international experts from Poland, Lithuania, Turkey, Morocco, South Africa and the United States, as well as around 20 representatives from five universities in Uzbekistan.

During the event, partner universities of the project, including the Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship, presented the results of their work on implementing the principles of a “green” and sustainable campus. A representative of the Graduate School of Business presented the developed strategy for implementing the “Green Campus” initiative, including implementation mechanisms and a roadmap. According to international experts, this strategy could serve as a model for introducing similar initiatives in more than 200 universities across Uzbekistan.

Special attention was paid to integrating environmental principles and sustainable development concepts into educational programmes. Participants learned about best practices from Karabük University, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (Lithuania), Cadi Ayyad University (Morocco) and the Central University of Technology (South Africa). In addition, participants studied the experience of the United States in developing course syllabi, as well as modern approaches to livestock waste management and wastewater treatment in agriculture.

The practical part of the programme focused on implementing sustainable development principles in industry. As part of the visit, participants toured the Kardemir Iron and Steel Factory (Turkey), where they learned about applied environmental solutions and production practices.

Following the training, participants were awarded certificates confirming successful completion of the programme. The parties also agreed that the next training session within the GreenCamUz project will be held in Tashkent at the Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship.
