Digitalisation of activity and the use of artificial intelligence

How the school is digitalising its processes, and the rules for using artificial intelligence under the principle of academic integrity.

Digitalisation

Digitalisation of activity

Admissions, teaching, the library and reporting are moving to electronic form. The aim is faster processes, data kept in one place and greater transparency.

  • Electronic admissionsApplying, tracking document status and publishing results all happen online. In place
  • Digital learning platformSession materials, assignments and assessment run in one system. In place
  • Electronic resource centreThe library catalogue and electronic resources are available remotely. In place
  • Open dataFinancial reports, procurement and activity results are published regularly. In place
  • Electronic document flowInternal documents, orders and applications are handled digitally. In progress

Artificial intelligence

Using AI under academic integrity

AI tools are not banned, but they do not replace independent analysis or the author’s own work. The conditions are simple: disclose the use, and keep responsibility for the result.

Permitted

  • Searching for literature and sources, getting explanations to understand a topic.
  • Editing style, spelling and structure of text.
  • Arranging data into tables or charts.
  • Checking code and calculations, looking for errors.

Disclosure required

  • When part of the text was written with AI help.
  • When a translation was produced fully automatically.
  • When analysis or conclusion options were shaped by a tool.
  • When an image, chart or presentation was generated automatically.

Not allowed

  • Generating the whole work and submitting it as your own.
  • Citing sources, quotes or statistics that do not exist.
  • Completing exams and tests with a tool.
  • Entering other people’s personal data into a tool without permission.

Disclosing the use

If an AI tool was used in a course paper, dissertation, article or project report, a short note is added at the end: which tool, at which stage and for what purpose. Undisclosed use counts as a breach of academic integrity.

Example: “An AI tool was used to assemble the literature review and to edit the style of the text. The analysis, calculations and conclusions are the author’s own work.”

How compliance is checked

  1. Plagiarism checkAll research work is checked for similarity after submission.
  2. Conversation with the authorThe supervisor asks questions about the content and method.
  3. Review of the disclosure noteThe completeness and accuracy of the AI disclosure is reviewed.
  4. Decision on breachesWhere a breach is found, the case goes to the chair and the Academic Council.

The rules follow the school’s internal regulations. A full link will be added here once the official regulation is approved.
