E-commerce platforms as a tool for small business development in Namangan Region

Namangan region is home to a large number of small producers of consumer goods. The region has a well-developed textile and garment industry, as well as traditional crafts, among which Chust knives and doppi skullcaps are widely known. For such producers, expanding sales beyond their own region remains one of the important tasks.

On 13 October 2026, a practical seminar for local producers on the topic “Opportunities for Supporting Small and Medium-Sized Businesses in Uzbekistan through E-commerce” was held in Namangan. The seminar was organized by the Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship together with the Namangan Regional Administration and the international e-commerce platform Wildberries.

At the seminar, the main focus was on the practical aspects of working on the Wildberries platform. Participants were informed of the procedure for registering as a seller on the platform and of the requirements for sellers at the initial stage of work. Placing products on the Wildberries platform makes it possible to sell them both in the domestic market and in the markets of other countries where the platform operates.

For a small producer, a product card on an e-commerce platform serves as both a shop window and a seller. In e-commerce, the buyer has no opportunity to examine the product directly, and therefore the decision to purchase it is made on the basis of photographs, the product description and customer reviews.

Producers who sell through intermediaries usually have no direct contact with the end buyer and therefore cannot build recognition of their own brand. Selling through e-commerce platforms allows producers to offer their products under their own brand and to retain a larger share of the value added.

The seminar in Namangan continues the series of practical seminars on e-commerce that the Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship holds in the regions of Uzbekistan.

The regional format makes it possible to deliver practical knowledge directly to local producers.
